Keep the expensive afternoon

The next attempt can look inexpensive because the previous attempts have disappeared from view. That is a dangerous convenience for anyone repeatedly estimating the same job. Burnslate keeps incurred cost beside the remaining plan, so the low price of finishing cannot replace the full price of getting there.

This is a ledger decision before it is a visual one. Failed-attempt hours produce a charge at the selected device's rate. Useful completed units reduce the work still ahead. The total can therefore change in two directions at once: less future work, more money already spent. Keeping both visible allows a person to understand what another retry would actually add.

A budget cap gives the ledger a question to answer. The point is not to punish a plan for crossing a line; it is to make that crossing visible before the next commitment. A planner may still choose the more expensive route for time or capacity reasons. At least the choice is made with the earlier afternoon still on the page.

The desk estimates each task using its own remaining units and the selected device’s rate. Memory compatibility is checked before a finish time is offered. Logged attempts retain their cost while completed units reduce remaining work. Plans run sequentially, and the comparison can be exported. The default rates are illustrative inputs, not measured hardware claims.
